Welcome to January!

January means New Years resolutions, so why not book your staycation here in North Devon.

Why? This is why!

  1. Enjoy time with family and friends.
  2. Choose a holiday on a farm in the countryside.
  3. Shop locally for the tastiest, freshest and most sustainable food.
  4. Get out and enjoy all of Devon’s secret places.

Many of our properties have peaceful walks from your door, so take time to capture the sunrises, sunsets and stars at night.

Over the last few weeks we have discovered new walks along the South West coast path. Coombe Martin to Watermouth was particularly impressive with it’s hidden beach and coffee shop built in a boat called ‘Storm in Teacup’. The views over the harbour were stunning and the wilderness of the sea at this time of year was exhilarating. The fish and chip lunch in Ilfracombe, at the end of the walk, was very welcome and gave us the perfect opportunity to look around this ancient Victorian town, which has plenty to see whatever time of year you are visiting. On the harbour you can buy local fish all year round and fishing trips are available in season. Many visitors return again and again to buy the scrumptious Rolly’s fudge.

After your day of exploring return home to a cosy cottage or Bed and Breakfast, light the fire and tuck into the fresh food you have cooked or just relax and enjoy the meal your host has prepared for you.

While you have been out and about the farmers have attended their animals. January is a time when farmers are preparing their animals to produce their young. From February to April calves and lambs are arriving, this means ‘all hands on deck’ for the family. We hope that you will choose and holiday at this time of year, as well as the summer, so you can experience life on a farm and make memories to last a lifetime.
