September is one of my favourite times on Exmoor, the weather is normally nice and sunny and the heather is in full bloom over the moor.

With sunny days comes clear skies at night, which is perfect for viewing the stars. In 2011 Exmoor was designated as an International Dark Sky Reserve due to minimal light pollution. The Exmoor National Park have a waymarked “Dark Sky Discovery Trail” it is 2 mile self-led route across open moorland offering 360 degree views of the night sky and the opportunity to see thousands of stars on a clear night, without a single artificial point of light. Next month The Exmoor National Park are holding a Dark Sky Festival

There are plenty of events arranged for September on Exmoor from guided walks, Sheep dog trails to a photography work shop and a vineyard tour with wine tasting. For some more ideas………

Hopefully this will inspire you to come and visit Exmoor soon, at North Devon Farm Holiday Group we have lots of choices for your
stay either Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast or Farm self catering holiday home.
