On 15 th March, a friendly willow weaving workshop in South Molton offers the chance to
discover the traditional craft of willow weaving. Using natural, environmentally friendly
materials, including beautifully coloured willows harvested from the grounds at Quince
Honey Farm, you’ll learn the basic techniques to create your own decorative willow heart.
Measuring approximately 15cm in length, your finished heart can be hung in the garden,
displayed in your home, or gifted to someone special (if you can bear to part with it!). You’re welcome to bring ribbon or string to add your own decorative touch.
It’s a wonderfully mindful way to spend a spring morning — immersed in creativity,
surrounded by the Devon countryside.
2. Devon Daffodils and Spring Blooms

Exmoor holds the distinction of being Europe’s first International Dark Sky Reserve, and
March offers some of the best stargazing conditions of the year. The winter constellations are still visible early in the evening, spring constellations are rising in the east, and the longer nights give you plenty of time to settle in before the main event begins.
The Exmoor National Park rent out telescopes or you can just find a quiet spot in the
countryside and enjoy the night skies by eye. Many of our farms are either on Exmoor or
have unspoilt dark skies because of their rural location.
4. Experience Life on a North Devon Farm
Of course, one of the greatest joys of a March holiday is staying on a North Devon Farm.
Spring is lambing season on some of our farms. Watching newborn lambs take their first
wobbly steps and frolic in the fields is something you’ll never forget, a magical experience
for adults and children alike.
